That sounds more fun! You should do “working at a car dealership” AMA.

May I ask what do you think about the service writers at your dealership? Did they seem happy with their jobs? That’s a job I’ve thought about lately. I imagine it’s not as cut throat as sales, and the hours are better. But it could be as bad as retail having to deal with the general population.

It’s both better and worse. It’s better in the sense that it’s not as cutthroat, and the “fish come to you”. But on the flip side you’re sometimes dealing with people at one of their worst times, and anything that goes wrong falls on you. You are essentially the face for the whole department to that customer and your whole job depends on 2-3 other people doing their jobs exactly right. That being said, I’ve never met someone who was really unhappy working the job as long as their boss isnt a complete dick. Its also a progressive job where in 2-3 years you can be making good money because of your come backs.
